The Emirate of Transjordan (إمارة شرق الأردن '), also hyphenated as Trans-Jordan and previously known as Transjordania or Trans-Jordania''', was a British protectorate established in April 1921. There were many urban settlements beyond the Jordan River, one in Al-Salt city and at that time the largest urban settlement east of the Jordan River. The Kaveri, also written Cauvery in English, is a large river. The origin of the river is traditionally placed at Talakaveri, Kodagu in the Western Ghats in Karnataka, flows generally south and east through Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and across the southern Deccan plateau through the southeastern lowlands, emptying into the Bay of Bengal through two principal mouths.
